Welcome to Gardendale Parks and Recreation
Under the leadership of Parks and Recreation Superintendent Dale Hyche, our dedicated team works hard to keep our facilities well-maintained and welcoming for everyone. Our parks are thoughtfully placed throughout the city, with many just a short walk from neighborhoods, making it easy for residents to enjoy the outdoors.
At Bill Noble Park, you’ll find nine ball fields, now home to our Softball program, along with a football field, eight tennis courts, and eleven pickleball courts. Families can enjoy playgrounds for the little ones, a putting green, and plenty of green spaces with pavilions that are perfect for gatherings. The park also features gaga ball, bocce ball, and lots of open areas to relax and play. For events, our Event Center is available to rent for meetings, parties, or celebrations and is conveniently located just a few miles from Interstate 65—close enough to be easy to get to but far enough to enjoy some peace and quiet.
Luman Harris Park named after Gardendale native and former Atlanta Braves manager Luman Harris, this park is home to the city’s community events. It features well-maintained fields, the fully accessible Miracle League Field, and the Raymond G. Doss Playground of Miracles an inclusive space for children of all abilities. Located just off Pineywood Road, Luman Harris Park blends tradition, accessibility, and community in one central hub.
Over at Beatrice Johnson Park on New Castle Road, families love the playground and pavilion, especially when the sound of the nearby train adds a bit of excitement to the day. On Keith Circle, Mini Park offers a quiet spot where kids can swing, slide, and shoot hoops in the shade of tall trees.
Kenneth Clemons Park is home to two soccer fields, four flag football fields, and plenty of space for casual play. Nearby at Celebration Park, families cool off at the Splash Pad, followed by a picnic under one of the pavilions. Not far away, our dog park is a great spot for dogs and their owners to have some fun together.
If you enjoy disc golf, Magnolia Links 18-Disc Golf Course is a great place to play. Since opening in 2020, it’s become a popular spot for tournaments and casual games—perfect for a quick round during lunch or an afternoon outing.
We’re also proud of our Scout Program. The City of Gardendale has renovated a building at 2126 Fieldstown Road just for the Scouts. Outside the building, a beautiful butterfly garden was created in honor of Mrs. Michelle Ballard, a beloved member of the Scout community. Her memory lives on through the garden, with help from Mr. Richard Bradley and the Beautification Commission, who planted the flowers.
